Thank you to the lovely people at Meadowlark Press for including my essay, “The Sparrow’s Whistle,” in issue #7 of the 105 Meadowlark Reader. This Kansas-themed journal collects stories from and about my adopted state, and I’m delighted – as an “incomer” – to be deemed worthy. Check it out for heartfelt and skillful musings on crossed paths, changes of direction, finding one’s way, moments of place. Mine marvels at the meaning discovered in a chance encounter at the end of our driveway that connected surprising dots, and offered me a glimpse of a road I had long wondered about, but never explored.
